As we GATHER together in worship and GROW stronger in in God's Word; We GIVE of ourselves through life- giving ministry and GO out in our world and transform it for God's glory. |
PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY
When it comes to the Gospel, the New Testament teaches that there are no people outside of God's love and His ability to reach them wherever they are in life. God does not discriminate by race, sex, social status, education, or sins committed. Because God's love extends to all people, so does our welcome. We work hard to not allow any prejudice to exist in our hearts toward our fellow man. Whether you are trying to discover faith for the first time or trying to rediscover a faith you once had, Emmanuel welcomes you with open arms. Here at Emmanuel, we have developed four connections that we believe change the lives of people. These are the connections drive our decisions regarding ministry. We believe these connections were founded by Jesus Christ who is the Cornerstone of our lives and desires us to change, grow and live lives pleasing to God. Connection 1 – GATHER IN WORSHIP Our lives have been changed in order to bring glory to God. The struggle of man since creation is who will be first place in our lives. Most people normally choose self when posed with that opportunity. Being transformed by Christ returns us to making God the priority in our lives. He no longer is a casual thought but the heartbeat of our lives. The term for this is Worship—that is recognizing God’s worth (He is first in my life). The New Testament makes worship an issue of lifestyle not time and place. Our lives are a daily statement of our belief that God is of utmost value. We GATHER together as a body of believers often to share in our common worship of God. Most of today’s church is defined by style. Are you contemporary, traditional, or blended? This usually means, what kind of music do you have? At Emmanuel, music style is not the issue. The issue is: Is God glorified? If He is, then the distinctions are artificial. Our goal is that we are guided by truth at all times. Worship is the music of our lives walking to the beat of the Divine Conductor. Our desire is that God would be honored and revered in the everyday music of our obedience to Him. Connection 2 – GROWING IN GOD's WORD Emmanuel seeks to be a Bible centered church. It is the priority of knowing the Bible that causes us to do the things we do. It is our belief that the Bible is God’s Word about Himself. He tells us who He is, what He values, how to please Him, and what makes Him angry. Therefore, if we are going to know Him, it is imperative that we know His Word. Because it's not enough to simply hear the Word of God, our goal is that we would come with a mindset to apply and immerse our lives in biblical truth. We are committed to infusing Truth into our reading, singing, as well as the preaching and teaching of God's Word. We have created a seamless discipleship plan that starts at birth and guides us through a life of learning and growing. Connection 3 - GIVING OURSELVES IN SERVICE Every person is uniquely shaped for service. We believe that there are a diversity of gifts that God has given to every person for the purpose of serving others. These gifts along with the natural abilities people have (such as singing, mechanical, finance, sports, etc.), their passion for people (such as elderly, infants, disabled, hungry, etc.), their former experiences both good and bad (such as a job, relationship, etc.) are all brought together by God to help us to fulfill our purpose. We believe that everybody has a use, that everybody is useful and that everybody should desire to be used by God to accomplish His will. After-all, God is the one who builds His church, and that church is built with people, not property. Therefor we place a high value on "community service" as well as "in house" Connection 4 - GOING INTO THE WORLD There is no doubt that God wants us to tell others how amazing He is and how He has changed our lives. We believe that God has given us a limited amount of time to tell others of His love and how they can become His child. Although this is a huge task, God has given us all we need to accomplish His purpose. First, He has given us truth. The existence of truth in a world of relativism is a very bright light in darkness. We must humbly present the hope of Christ for salvation. Second, the power of Love is on our side. Love of one another and of those the world despises shakes the foundations of resistance and crumbles the walls of doubt. Third, we have the power of prayer. Seeking God’s assistance in spiritual battle for another’s soul is an incredible comfort. The fact is we are the light of the world. Our church family must not be content to be hidden but to indeed be the community on the hill for all to see. |
